Job Description
OVERVIEW
Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing leadership and technical expertise in automation, control, instrumentation, and vision systems, including advancements in AI applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads end-to-end development, improvement, and implementation of machine automation and vision systems in glove manufacturing, covering quality inspection, defect detection, and real-time monitoring.
- Continuously optimizes existing systems and processes to align with production goals, quality standards, and new technologies.
- Performs system improvements and troubleshooting involving control systems, vision systems, HMI, network topology, gateway protocols, and other automation components.
- Applies solid knowledge in process automation, scripting, control, and system integration.
- Serves as the go-to expert in resolving complex issues in control, instrumentation, and automation.
- Mentors junior Automation Engineers.
- Develops and writes automation software using tools such as PLCs, Python, and C++ (Intermediate level).
- Identifies automation opportunities and recommends enhancements.
- Manages multiple small-to-medium scale automation projects.
- Stays current with trends in automation and vision systems, including AI and deep learning.
- Documents automation systems, test results, SOPs, and develops user manuals, maintenance guides, and technical documentation to ensure long-term sustainability.
- Supports implementation of new vision technologies, from concept and proposal to R&D and plant-wide integration.
- Ensures all projects include training, mentoring, and skill development to enhance team performance and continuous improvement.
- Participates in field and construction activities for modifying or installing automation systems as required.
- Ensures compliance with engineering standards, design codes, and promotes safe, reliable system design.
- Implements the HSE Management System and ensures adherence to safety policies, procedures, and company standards.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment by enforcing safety rules and best practices.
- Supports company reputation and product quality through strict regulatory compliance and ethical practices.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, in line with the role and department or company goals.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, specifically in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial or vision system, with 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in automation architecture, including SCADA, MES, and industrial networks.
- Proven knowledge of glove manufacturing processes, with ability to optimize automation for yield and efficiency.
- Capable of designing and tuning control systems, including PID, motion, and interlock strategies.
- Skilled in developing automation software and using SCADA/MES/tools for system analysis.
- Designs dashboards and KPIs, leveraging data trends for system optimization.
- Resolves complex system issues using structured diagnostics and preventive methods.
