Job Description

Job Purpose

Carry out daily operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance of the facility’s electrical power distribution systems to maintain safe, reliable, and compliant electricity supply in accordance with ST regulations and company safety standards.

Responsibilities

1. Perform daily meter readings at 33 kV, 11 kV, and LV distribution points and monitor power factor, load balance, and voltage stability.

2. Inspect transformers, HT/LV panels, and capacitor banks for overheating, leakage, abnormal noise, or other irregular conditions.

3. Monitor TNB intake supply and facility demand to support effective load management activities.

4. Execute preventive maintenance tasks on transformers, switchgear, breakers, and capacitor banks in accordance with approved checklists.

5. Carry out isolation, repair, and system restoration activities during electrical breakdowns.

6. Coordinate with contractors during statutory and condition-based testing such as transformer oil sampling, Hi-Pot testing, and relay calibration.

7. Comply with Electricity Regulations 1994, OSHA 1994, and company HSE standards, including PTW and LOTO requirements.

8. Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and hazard identification activities, reporting unsafe acts or conditions.

9. Record operational readings, inspection findings, and equipment status accurately in logbooks and maintenance records.

10. Report equipment condition, abnormalities, and completed work activities to the Senior Technician or Supervisor on a daily basis.

Qualification and Experience

1. Certificate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related technical field (MQA recognized).

2. Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 in electrical installation/maintenance is acceptable.

3. Fresh graduates or 1 year of relevant electrical maintenance experience.

4. Experience in HT/LV distribution systems is an advantage.
